L'origine de la Société Honoraire de Français

La Société Honoraire de Français is a national organization whose aim is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and understanding of francophone culture, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, and to reward efforts toward further solidarity in the French-speaking world. The national SHF organization was established in 1949 as a subsidiary of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Today, the SHF has grown to include chapters throughout the nation and boasts several thousand members.
